ALVIN DEDEUX: Lead comes in all different thicknesses. This is fairly heavy. This will weight this fly down pretty quickly. All right. Okay, I'm up here near the eye. That's where I want to stop. Pretty easy, you can cut the lead with your wire clippers but it's pretty easy to break. I usually just break it off with my fingers. So what you want to do is make sure that this lead stays where it is, is take your thread that you've attached and just kind of loosely wrap back over the thread, maybe make few wraps behind it, behind the lead, then a few kind of loose wraps back to the front. And if you make these loose wraps, it won't cut into the lead. Okay. Now, you're back up front. You can either continue tying your fly that you're going to make or if you want to go ahead and get a bunch of them down up, you could just put a quick knot on here, pull that out, tie it off. And now you've got your lead attached to your hook. You're ready to make your weighted fly.
