ALVIN DEDEUX: Okay, so another sort of basic technique you might want to know--might need know is weighting a hook. Typically, what we do is just attach lead wire to the shank of the hook. So what we'll do is put our hook in the vise as we've seen in the past, and then we'll attach a thread to the hook. I like to attach the thread first. We're actually going to use the thread to secure the lead on the hook. Now, what you want to do is basically wrap that lead around the hook shank. And it doesn't matter if you--I usually start at the back of the hook and try to work my way up to the front. If you get part way up and you run out of lead, just grab another piece. It doesn't matter. They don't have to be one continuos piece. And just wrap the lead nice and smooth, each wrap right next to the last one. You can wrap the entire shank. You can just wrap part of it.
