"ALVIN DEDEUX: So the first thing you need to do is put the hook in the vise and you want to attach it pretty securely. Most vises will have two types of adjustments here. This one here near the front, this actually adjusts for the width, and this back adjustment is actually what cranks it down to hold it in there. So we're going to kinda adjust it, make sure that the jaws will open up far enough to get the hook in there. You might snug it down a little bit here and then you use the back to really crank it down. You want to get that pretty tight. I mean, you don't want to get it so tight that you can't get it open when it's time to take the fly out, but you want to get it tight enough so that hook doesn't move when you start cranking your materials on there. Because sometimes you have to put them on under a pretty good pressure so if you can do this and the hook doesn't move up and down in the vise or just kind of pluck it, it's like, "Okay, that's in there tight enough, then I'm ready to tie my materials to that hook.""
