"ALVIN DEDEUX: Okay, the scissors are one of the essential tools for fly tying. They come in all different sizes, different shapes. Some of them are actually adjustable. You can bend this out to fit whether you have skinny fingers or fat fingers. These are set. They will come in small jaw sizes. You can get them in curved jaws or longer jaws. It's probably a good idea to have a couple different types of scissors, maybe one for cutting bigger bulky materials and wires, and then another finer set for cutting small materials when you have to make really precise little cuts there. So--and you can get really inexpensive scissors or you can spend a lot of money on a pair of scissors. You just want to make sure they're sharp and make sure that your fingers will fit in the finger holes or that they're at least adjustable so you can bend them to fit your fingers. Everybody's got their personal preference. Let's say initially, just maybe get you a couple of inexpensive pairs and work with them. And in that way, you'll figure out what you like. And then when you decide to spend more money on them, you'll get the right pair."
