How to Attach the First Bucktail for Fly Fishing

"ALVIN DEDEUX: I'm going to go ahead and pinch it right behind where I had it marked. I'm going to cut off those tips there, pull it back. Okay, I'm going to hold that down, sort of pinch it between my fingers to keep it from moving while I start wrapping my thread around it. Lock that down. And notice I'm wrapping it down in front of the eyes first, not going all the way up to the eye yet. And then, I'm going to come back, pull that bucktail up, bring my thread back around the eyes, pull the bucktail down, and then lock it down back here, two, three or four nice wraps. Okay, and now, we got our base color attached. We got our white. And see by wrapping that in front and then pulling it over, the bucktail covers up those wraps in the middle of the dumbbell eye. I don't know if the fish care but it just makes the fly look a little bit nicer."
