"ALVIN DEDEAUX: Now, we got our line out straight on the water. This is our perfect starting position. The line is pretty much straight. The leader is straight. My rod tip is right above the water. We're going to do our loading move and it's a lot more noticeable here because you can feel the tug of the line. The line wants to stick to the water. So what you want to do is just make sure you put enough power into that cast so that you can lift all that line off the water, and then you're going to make your abrupt stop right before the fly comes off the water. So it's going to look something like this. And what you want to try to do is make sure you don't make too much disturbance. You don't want to rip the line off the water, like so. On the other side, you don't want to hesitate once you start to lift because then it's going to be hard to get all that line off. You just want to make a nice, smooth pull and accelerate all the way through. When you see the end of the fly line coming off the water, that's when you make your stop, and there should just be just a little bubble maybe when that fly pops out, like so. Nice and smooth. Don't rip it and don't hesitate. I wan to keep that line nice and straight, load it right up, just pop the fly out."
