"ALVIN DEDEAUX: Another grip you can use is with your index finger on top. You can either have it here on the end of the cork, or some people even push it on up onto the butt of the rod. This one doesn't have quite as much power as the thumb on top grip, but some people feel like they can be a little bit more accurate with that finger. They're sort of pointing with the finger to their target when they're casting. That's just a perfectly good grip, maybe not the best grip if you're doing some big, heavy salt-water fishing, but pretty acceptable for most other stuff."
