"ALVIN DEDEAUX: Okay, so people say a lot of times, what's the difference between fly casting and any other type of fishing? And the main difference is that when we're fly fishing, we're actually casting the weight of our fly line. The weighted fly line is what's going to deliver our lure to the fish. Most other types of fishing, you're going to use a weighted lure or a weighted bait and a weightless line, and you're using a rod to wind up and throw that weight and the line just goes along for the ride. With the fly line and rod, you actually use the rod to cast the weighted line and your weightless lure is sort of getting dried along for the ride. So that's the main difference. We're using a weightless lure with a weighted line on fly fishing versus a weighted lure and a weightless line with any other type of fishing."
