"The next concept we're going to talk about is running efficient. Running efficiency is basically a way to improve your technique so you use less energy and become a more efficient runner with less energy being expended. That being said, some things to keep in mind are, you want your head up, you want to keep everything relaxed, hands relaxed, and your upper body should only move with regard to your lower body. It shouldn't move independently, and it shouldn't move side to side. Just keep your movement going back and forth. Any movement that goes to the left or to the right is going to require extra energy, and it's going to take its toll throughout the race. Another thing to keep in mind is you want to be landing forefoot or midfoot in your strike, because what happens is when you over stride or you get a heel strike, it takes longer to transition to lift off, and also it acts as a natural breaking force for your body so it slows your running down.
