"GINA KENNEDY: Faith is going to help me demonstrate the Hero pose, Virasana and taken into a chest expansion. So, Faith is in Hero's pose. She's seated up nice and tall. Her shoulders are just slightly back. Her chest is lifted. Notice that her knees are together. Her heels are outside of her hips. Good. And she's seated up nice and tall. She's seated on the block but once we get used to this pose, then eventually, we will make the block lower and lower, maybe even using a blanket. So, eventually, she's on the ground. But for right now, Faith is seated on block and she's going to take these blocks and place them behind her feet and in just a little bit. Yeah. And she's going to use those to press into so she can lengthen up and open up through her heart so that she can lift her chest. Notice that her shoulder blades are going to move together, so her rhomboids are squeezing together here and she's opening and lifting her heart up to the sky. A great way to open your chest, a great way to open your lungs so that you have better breathing capacity. Good. So, she's just going to inhale in and try to open her chest a little bit more and exhale. Just relax. Now, notice how she's keeping her neck right in line with her spine. And you particularly want to do that if you have any neck problems. If you have no neck issues and you know you have no neck issues, you can go ahead and let your head fall back. But please, only keep it straight in line with your spine if you know that you--or you suspect that you might have some neck issues. And that's a Chest Opener with Hero's pose."
