"GINA KENNEDY: Virasana or Hero pose is a great pose to begin your practice with and also the base of some other poses. So, we want to make sure that we get into this correctly. And it's not exactly easy for everybody to sit in this pose. But it can be made a lot easier if you use a block. So, Faith is going to help me demonstrate the Hero pose and she's going to come up onto her knees. And she's just going to take the block and place it in between her heels and take a seat. She's going to bring her heels in at first just to measure where it is. Good. And she's going to bring her heels out, so they're on the outsides of the hips. So, she's going to move her heels out a little bit further. And then try to tuck her knees in close together. The tendency is to let your knees splay out. We want our knees together. Good. She's going to press all her ten toes right down into the earth. And then she's going to take her thumbs and press into her heels and energetically think about lifting in and up, just moving the heels out, just ever so slightly. Good. She's going to take her hand to the inside of her calf and then pull that calf just out from her hamstring. Yes. Good. That's going to give you a little bit more room to sink down. So, remember what we want to be working towards is getting our bottom right onto the ground. Good. She's going to take her hands to the insides of her thighs and just stroke her thighs up, just getting that energy moving. Good. This is a really great way to release some tension in the hips. And she's going to sit up nice and tall. Good. Beautiful. Hero's pose."
