"Hi! I’m Dave Feraco on behalf of Expert Village. As I mentioned, there are 2 different ways to begin your exercise on your elliptical trainer. First is to just press quick start. The second is to choose from on of the programs offered on the elliptical trainer. A manual exercise, cross training 1, 2, and 3, a glueteals 1 and 2 exercise, interval training and weight loss interval. Hold the handles wherever it's comfortable for you. Here, here, here. One important thing about working on the elliptical trainer is to keep your hips straight; not leaning forward and not leaning back. Once you start pedaling, if you want more of an uphill workout you would raise the incline level of the cross ramp. If you wanted more of a straight-ahead workout you would lower the incline of the cross ramp. If you wanted a feeling easygoing workout, you would lower the resistance. This makes the pedaling that much easier. If you want the workout to be a little more intense, conversely you would increase the resistance making for a more rigorous workout on your legs. Another nice feature of the elliptical trainer is that it allows you to pedal backwards, there by changing your workout and changing the muscles that you're working on as well. "
