"Hi! I'm Dave Feraco and on behalf of Expert Village, I'd like to talk a little bit about in this clip about the treadmill. The treadmill is the grand daddy of all cardiovascular equipment and still the number one way to loose weight and burn fat. Most treadmills are setup the same way and they're very simple to use. Stop button, start button, adjusting the speed, adjusting the incline, and selecting a program. There are many different types of programs you can choose when you're on a treadmill. This particular treadmill offers cardiovascular workout, a 5K run, a weight loss workout, a heart rate workout, 9 holes, that must be a walking workout, and of course a manual. For the purpose of this exercise, I'm going to choose manual. I select the manual button, and I'm prompted to enter my weight. There's arrows so you can enter up or down. Once you've got the correct weight, you hit the enter button. Now it asks you how much time do you want to use the treadmill for; how long will your workout be. For the purpose of this exercise, I'm going to select 30 minutes. Once I hit enter, there's a count down to prepare you for the treadmill to start rotating and it begins. At this point, you would then select the speed. So depending on how fast or slow you want to go, you would use the plus or minus button to select the speed that you want to move at. A comfortable walking speed for me would 4.0. For somebody else it may be 3.0 or for somebody else still it could be 4.5. There's no one answer for every person. Once you're on the treadmill, you've already done your stretching, so you're ready to begin a cardiovascular workout. It's generally a good idea to get your body warmed up by walking for a couple of minutes at a comfortable speed. Once you've walked for a couple minutes and you've got your body sufficiently warmed up, you can then begin to run. As you're running on a treadmill, it's very important to not do what I'm doing, which is turning my head to the side. You want to always maintain focus straight ahead of you and run at a comfortable pace. If you have the feeling like you need to stop the treadmill, there are 2 ways to do it. You can simply decrease the speed till it comes down to a safe speed where you can hold on to the handles and step off, or there's a red stop button, which you just press and the treadmill will come to an immediate stop.
