on 12/10/2008 Very solid workouts. I am a Gracie tained Purple belt instructor and these are the core movements needed to being an effective fighter. I like the point of adding resistance on the ankles. Thanks for the tips.

Video Transcript

"On behalf of Expert Village, my name is Gilson "the Barbarian" Oliveira, speaking to you from Camp Undefeated in New York City, bringing to you today, practice drills for fighters. For submission grapplers, Jujitsu practitioners and now, wrestlers involved, especially in MMA or getting into competitions with submission wrestling, one of the most important submissions is a triangle choke. So this drill not only develops strength in your abs, but will develop also timing for the proper close on top position. You can add resistance as you can see here, I'm wearing some ankle weights - do not use too heavy, because this for sure will strain your ligaments. So what you're going to do, is you're going to rock your body back, you're going to shoot both legs up, you're going to close the triangle and get back. Do not allow your hips to go down before you lock your legs. So you go up, switch your legs."
