"GINA KENNEDY: The Hindi squat is a great way to open up your hips, open your thighs, bring circulation to the pelvic area and, link them through your spine. Faith is going to help me demonstrate this. So, I'm going to have Faith just come sideways. Good. She's going to inhale, lengthen up, and then as she exhales, she's just going to bend her knees and drop her tailbone down, and come down into a squat position. Now, notice how Faith's heels come up. For most of us, that's going to happen. The true pose is going to have your heels on the ground. So, I'm just going to have Faith place her feet on either--you can use a slant, or a block, or even just a rolled up mat. So, we're just going to take the rolled up mat and place it under Faith's heels. Good. So, notice her toes can come straight out from her heels, and her knees can come straight out from her hips, and she can press her tailbone down while she lengthens up through the crown of her head, draws her belly in, and can stay in her Hindi squat. Good. So, you can see where using a bolster or a prop can really help you come in to the Hindi squat. The next time she does this, since your body remembers where it was last time, she could unroll the mat just a little bit and come down lower and lower until eventually her heels are going to be on the ground."
