This is Fran Dukehart. In this segment we are going to explore a couple of variations for plank position. Plank position helps you strengthen your abdominals, lengthen your back, and stabilizing the back with the abdominals, engaging energy through the arms, so it couldn’t be a weightbearing exercise as well. Many ways to do plank. Let us explore. First we will start with the fingers. We rub them together and then spread them wide right underneath the shoulders. We step back with one foot and then the other, lifting the abdominals, pressing in towards the heels as we press the energy into the heels, we press the energy into the ground, lengthen our neck, pull the navel in and we hold. Plank position is excellent for building stability, and if we need to, we can come in towards the knees, letting the knees be a stabling point, again engaging the abdominals, lifting them upwards, bringing the shoulders open and down, neck long. From my center to your center… Namaste.
