"So we just walked through a basic sun salutation. The starting position, called mountain pose, is situated just like this: your feet are hip-width apart with your palms facing the front; shoulders directly over the hips; you want to soften the knees and just notice your breath rise and fall, so you can put your hands on your belly as you feel that. So you inhale, feeling that air push through, as you exhale, pulling the pelvic floor and navel into the small of the back and exhale, rolling the breath out. You want to pay attention to the weight in your feet so your knees are soft, feeling nice and grounded, thinking of your legs maybe like the trunks of a tree, just feeling them rooted and grounded and into the earth. Just close your eyes, feeling the effects of the pose, keeping the shoulders rolled back, abs pulled in tight, and just take a few deep breaths in and exhaling out, and again, deep breath in and exhaling out. This is your first pose, the mountain pose."
