" Hi, my name is Brian Langey; I am the owner of On the Road Personal Training and Athleticism Training and Performance. On behalf of Expert Village, you can reach me at ontheroadpt.com. Today we are talking about the upright exercise bike. The upright exercise bike is found in many gyms and home studios and homes, it is an excellent way to burn fat and increase your cardiovascular conditioning. Although a little bit different than a recumbent bike, which is more of a chair type setting, is that the pedals are directly below you like more of a traditional bike so that you can get more of a traditional bike ride but yet not go anywhere because obviously you are in the house or in you club. The seat is a little wider than a traditional saddle seat. Again, the pedals are right below you and there is multiple versatility as far as the adjustment. And with this particular bike of an upright bike you want to use it to get on, straddle the bike and the positioning for your pedals to seat height, you knees should just be slightly bent before you are at the full extension of you leg. To get on here you start pedaling and to use the machine you go right into quick start, which would put you right into the manual program and you, can make adjustments from there. You want to try to stay as tall as possible unless you are going into more of a sprint type bike-training method. So you would be more in this traditional type sprinting method. Otherwise, you can stay nice and tall and there are multiple positions to take your heart rate if you are using contact heart rate handles and there is a variety of programs to choose from to make your ride more enjoyable.
