Pads are rather inexpensive in today's skateboard shops and fit on easily, they usually contain two straps one for the top and one for the bottom. You want to make sure that the Velcro straps are snugged on your legs but don't prevent you from actually bending your leg. The benefit of a knee pad is this hard plastic shell it prevents you from skinning your knee, tearing your clothes or having series injury done to the bones of your knee cap. Now let's talk about the elbow pads, the elbow pad is similar to the knee pad it fits on the same way top strap, bottom strap. You want to place your elbow firmly inside of the elbow pad bring the first strap around make sure it's snug then bring the second strap around and like the knee pad make sure you can bend. The benefit of a pad is that it provides the durability of bone protection with the flexibility of clothing, wearing an elbow pad can prevent you from skinning your elbow and from causing series elbow or shock related injury to the arm.
