"Hi! My name is Mike Lumley. On behalf of Expert Village, I'm here to teach you pitching. The next phase as we said, and to me is the most crucial is your balance stage. The balance stage is going to be the key to basically everything successful or everything negative in your pitching. Balance, we really have to make sure that our upper body and our lower body work together. I'm a big fan of starting around your belly button with your glove and that your knee and your glove work together, so everything works together. I give the analogy to the young kids is to pretend there's a string between your knee and your glove. When one comes up, they both come up and they come down together. It's a straight up, straight down. You have zipper line where call the center line or zipper line. That glove and knee need to travel basically up and down that zipper line. As we throw here, a good drill to get this started in a starting point is to be. Work on 2 full seconds up and 2 full seconds down. Most of the pitchers, especially young ones will break down on their way down and start to collapse their back knee, which is a big fault, and it's going to have bad results in the end. What we're going to try to do here is really try and work on our balance, up together, and down together. Now we come from here, we're into our glide stage, and we can continue forward. We take ourselves nice and calm, under control, good balance, good balance down, pick up target, and then we can throw."
