"Hi, my name is Mike Lumley on behalf of Expert Village, I am here to teach you pitching. So now we are going to talk about, and work on the, probably the most lethal pitch in baseball, which is the change up. There is very, a few different ways to throw a change up and I would not say there is any perfect way to do it, or any exact way to do it. You have to look at that each hand, each wrist, everybody's arm angle, everything is different on every pitcher so to say a circle change is the best pitch in baseball is not always true because it works for some people, doesn't always work or myself. As a pitcher, I couldn't throw the circle change and that is fine, but there are some other people that really threw it well. So there are different styles of change ups and modifications off of maybe a change up somebody has made somewhat famous. So as a circle change because of hand size, finger length, all that kind of stuff is going to make a difference on how a circle change is held. Basic premise in a circle change is to, we are going to start with our fingers, pointer finger and thumb together, bring it down the side of the ball and have the, basically, middle finger up at the top and the other two fingers resting on the side. That can modify for any pitcher so obviously the bigger your fingers are the more you can wrap around the ball, the more that you can possibly move your fingers closer together. So, it's going to vary on each pitcher on what you can do and as you go through some of these pitches putting a little more finger pressure on one side over the other is going to make a huge difference on what your change up does.
