"I'm Kelli and this is Kolby on behalf of Expert Village. I am going to show you my opinions and techniques on how to groom your horse. Now you will want to tie your horse to groom her. If you do happen to have a barn, you can cross tie your horse. Basically what a cross tie is, is a chain on either side of the isle that will clip to these D-rings here on the halter so your horse can stand in the center of the isle so that you can groom her. Now we don't have that situation right here so we are going to tie her to this fence. We want to make sure when you do this that your horse is a horse that will tie because otherwise, you are going to have one that pulls back and it will be an ugly situation. So you want to make sure that before you attempt doing something like this that your horse is willing to tie stand. So what we are going to do is take our lead rope and we are going to loop it over the fence rail here. We are going to make sure that we tie her pretty close. We don't want her to have a lot of slack because we don't want her to be able to get down there to eat grass or we don't want too much line that she gets tangled in this. So we are going to just loop our lead line around here. We are just going to take the loop and cross it over here and we are just going to pull it through like that. So it's just a quick release. If we have to undo it really quick and she starts to spook and pull away, we can undo it in a really quick fashion. So we are just going to take this, loop it through and just do a real quick release like that. So that way if she happens to spook, it will be able to be undo really easily so that she won't get tangled in the fence, end up ripping down the fence and dragging the rail with her. So that is how you want to tie your horse. "
