How to Remove a Horse Blanket Before Grooming

"I'm Kelli and this is Koby on behalf of Expert Village I'm going to show you my options and techniques on how to groom your horse. Now that I have my horse where I want to take her and groom her, I'm going to take off her sheet before I untie her just in case taking off the blanket would not startle her at all. You don't want her ties so she can pull back and maybe pull down the fence or anything. So I'm going to tell her to woo. I'm just going to lightly pat her and let her know I'm walking back here to unbuckle her strap. She wants to eat a little bit of grass that is all right, that would keep her out of trouble. So I'm going to unbuckle one leg strap here. I'm going to walk around to her other side. Let me walk around her so you can see what I'm doing. I'm going to unbuckle her belly belt and I'm going to let her know that I'm back here so I don't startle her. I'm going to unbuckle her other leg strap. I'm going to pick up her head and kind of shake the blanket out a little bit. Sometimes you can get a little bit of static and shock them and kind of startle them a little bit. So this sheet is over the head sheet so I'm going to pull it on down so I have nothing but the neck piece on the top. I'm just going to pull it really gently over her head so I don't startle her. Sometimes I may even get a little bit of a static shock so they may pull back from you a little bit. So just be aware of that. We are just going to take it here and hang it over the fence so it is not in our way. That is how you want to take off your blanket before you groom."
