How to Lead a Horse Before Grooming

"I'm Kelli and this is Koby on behalf of Expert Village. I'm going to show you my options and techniques on how to groom your horse. Now that we have put a halter on horse, we are going to lead our horse to the fence where we are going to tie here for grooming. So when you are leading your horse, you want to make sure that you are holding your lead rope in a loop and you are holding it between your fingers. You don't want to ever let your lead rope get too long or you don't ever want to wrap it around your hand cause that could be really dangerous. Your horse can get tangle in a lead rope or he can pull and your hand could end up getting stuck in there and you can end up being drugged, so you want to just loop your lead rope. You are going to hold it in between your fingers, you are always going to lead on the left side. You never want to lead on the right. You are going to take your right hand and you are going to hold her just right here under the chin. We are going to look where we want to go. Get her a little cluck to see if she follows us and we are going to lead her right to the fence. That is how you properly want to lead your horse where you want to go. "
