"When setting a gymnastic line, it is important to have a good understanding of the amount of feet that you want between either the pole and the jump or each jump. Now this would depend on the arena size and the stride of your horse;how large or how small your horse stride is. To get a good idea you might have to adjust them so you might need a person on the ground to help you adjust the footage as you go. But the basic idea is that one of your steps equals 3 feet. So once you have an idea of how long this base between jumps would be, you can use your steps to measure that amount of footage. If you are unsure and new to striding, then you should also have a measuring tape so that stride length is exact. It is important that this is accurate so that when you ride through gymnastics you don't get into trouble."
