Series Summary

The bond between human and horse has existed for a very long time. Often, just their calming presence does wonders for the human spirit. In today's world, where many of us are disconnected to these large animals, encounters with these majestic creatures may be hard to come by. However, there are many people who still create a caring and exciting relationship with horses.

There are many different ways to ride a horse: bareback, western, and Australian. However, one type of riding stands out as the traditional equestrian style. The English saddle was developed through the growing popularity of fox hunting. Unlike the western or Australian saddles, the English saddle has no horn, and it was designed to allow the horse freedom of movement. The English saddle is used in both Olympic and equestrian competitions.

Video Transcript

"Today we would be working on setting a gymnastic line for horses. Gymnastics are very useful to encourage flexibility, strength in age or level of horse. Setting a gymnastic line you could use varieties blocks or standards. Today we would be using some blocks they are very easy to maneuver and set cause they are so much lighter then a standard. However, they are limiting and they only have a certain height. We would also be using flower boxes for our ground lines. These are a little lighter and easier to set then having a extra pull to place on your ground line. The amount of blocks for standard that you use would depend on how high you want to make your jumps. So usually with the gymnastic line as you come down the line the jumps would increase in size and therefore by the end of the line we would have standards. If you want to make the whole gymnastic higher you would have to have more standards then blocks. "
