"Another way to dismount is to dismount without dropping both of your stirrups. You find this especially with western riders. But also with some English riders. So the beginning procedure is the same except we would be keeping the left stirrup. So I'm going to go ahead and drop my right stirrup, put the reins under my left hand. The weight would be still on the left hand and on the right hand. Except this time I would also have the use of my left stirrup to swing up, over and down. This is a good way to get off if you are not comfortable with the actually motion of jumping down onto both feet. It is a more gradual maybe a more elegant way to dismount. Also if your horse does look nervous you can always find someone to hold it. I'm going to swing up keeping the weight in my left stirrup, swing my right foot over."
