"Hi, I'm Kelli on behalf of Expert Village, I'm going to show you my tips and techniques that I use to bridle my horse with a western bridle. The last thing you want to do with your western bridle as many western shank bits have a curve chain or a curve strap. Depending a strap could be a piece of leather that buckles to each side here of your shank bit. So we are going to put our leather piece here through a little slot of our bit. We are going to buckle it. Put it through the little keeper. You want to keep your curve chain pretty loose. It should be able to if you pick up on the horses mouth you should notice that it hits the bottom of the chin and it applies pressure. But it should never be so tight that it is pressing too hard into the bottom of the chin or it is cutting the horse. If it is doing that, you probably want to loosen it up some. So you should be able to fit at least a good finger in there and have to be able to move freely so it is not uncomfortable for the horse. Because if it is a little to tight on them it would cause them to be a little scare when you do bump their face with their bit. We also don't want to loose or otherwise it is not going to be doing much of anything for you. So as long as it could move freely and if you pick up on the bridle, it is properly just bumping the bottom of there chin you know that you have at the proper length."
