" Hi there! I’m Fran Freedman here at Morning Starr Animal Sanctuary, and I’m here to tell you about ferrets and your other pets on behalf of expertvillage.com. This is Obie and he gets along great with other ferrets. Some ferrets though think that fuzzy things like hamsters and gerbils and chinchillas are things that they can bite on and pull around the room. Definitely, ferrets do not get along with all animals. I’d personally feel they should never be around birds, though it has been done, but it is just not right. They definitely see something flapping away they will go after it. Gerbils do not get along with ferrets. Rabbits. Cats and dogs, they’re another story. They have learned to get along with ferrets, and they do get along very well. Just realize that ferrets do bite when they play and that the other animal will have to be very tolerant of that. They should never be left with another animal unless they’re alone. They should always be supervised. "
