"Hi my name is Sarah and on behalf of expertvillage.com, I am here at Petland in Pembroke Pines, Florida to educate you a little bit today about caring for your ferret. As far as exercise for your ferret goes, your ferret should have access to a good safe ferret- proofed area of your house to exercise. When ferret proofing an area of your house, it sounds silly but you want to get down on your hands and knees and crawl around any areas that your ferret is going to have access to. You should be cautious of areas under cabinets, behind refrigerators and anywhere your ferret can get that you are not able to get to your ferret is dangerous. You should also be cautious of windows, railings if you live in a multilevel home, wires, anything that your ferret can chew up and potentially ingest or injure itself with. As far as toys go for your ferret, it is important that you pick hard plastic toys as ferrets are very prone to chewing on things. It is always a good idea to check your ferret’s toys at least every few days to make sure that they are not chewing any pieces off. The number one reason that veterinarians see young ferrets under a year and half of age is because they have chewed up something they were not supposed to ingest it and is causing an intestinal obstruction. Therefore, it is very important to keep an eye on what toys you give to your ferrets. If you would like any more information about the animal hospital that I work at, you can go to www.extracareanimalhospital.net and if you would like anymore information about Petland in Pembroke Pines, you can go to www.petland.com."
