"One of the most interesting things about pigs I think is how quickly they grow and this is all about breeding. Farming over the centuries has bred an animal that grows so quickly. This sow in front of us is only a couple of years old at the most. In the pen right behind here, are her piglets. They were born in April and it is now October and those guys are about 6 months old. In the furtherest pen, are some baby piglets. They are not related to either of these two groups. We bought those. Those piglets are about 3 weeks old. So you can see that they are growing at a fantastic rate. These piglets in the middle pen that are 6 months old probably weighed approximately weighed a pound to 1 1/2 when they were born. Maybe 2 pounds at the most. They were not very big piglets at all. Here at 6 months they are weighing in at 150. No, 200, maybe 200 pounds. Sorry my farmer off camera here is telling me how much they weigh. But these in a mere 6 months have gone from 2 pounds to over 200 pounds and that is just a phenomenal rate of growth. "
