"Alright there are many different types of pigs in the world and they are raised for different purposes. In general, a pig is only used as a source of food. They are not like other domestic livestock which were often used as power or source of milk or things like that. Pigs are here to be raised as meat so much of your pigs are bred to be good solid lean meat. There are however, breeds of pigs that are bred to be nothing but lard. They produce vast quantities of lard rather than nice lean meat. This particular pig in front of us is a cross breed between a couple of fairly small breeds. A Poland China and a landrase is her parentage and she is a good solid sturdy sow. She is actually at this point bigger than you would want to have for a pig to go to market but that is basically it. You breed for pigs that will grow quickly into a nice lean meat. "
