"Hi. This is Jill Bergmen. I just wanted to talk to you about the fact that Alpacas literally have no defenses at all. They only have teeth on the bottom. I don't know if you can get that. No teeth on the top gum. And they don't have hooves. They have no defenses whatsoever. Her defense probably is her talking, because that's about all she can do. But they're just a gentle, sweet animal. The one thing that Alpacas can do, and that?s fleeing. And so, what we call is a flight response. And she wants to do that right now. To get out of a situation, that's the only thing they really can do is flee. They freeze. And I think it's probably with an Alpaca that hasn't been trained. And they get so frightened that they actually freeze. And they do not move a muscle. And I haven't ever had that because I always make sure that they get very trained and handled a lot. If they were running, you could not catch an Alpaca. We've tried! We've definitely tried. What you do is you try to corner them. That's sometimes what you have to do to get them."
