"Hi! I am Debbie with expertvillage.com. We are talking about having hermit crabs for pets. Right now we are talking about why it is important to give your crab a bath every day. We talked about early just a smaller little container can be their bathtub, anything can be their bathtub. Kids like to participate in giving the crabs a bath every day. The reason why you are going to do a bath with your crab is to keep them clean, get all the debris out of their shell and off of their claws. So, don’t fill it all the way full and now remember these are land crabs and they can drown believe it or not. So you don’t want to leave them in there a long time, just kind of put them in and let them splash around a little bit. This is also, if you want to get them active, this is a good way to do it. This little guy says “Oh! I love my bath.” Thank you. You need to bath your crabs once a day. There will be a good morning routine and your crabs are going to love having their bath every morning I promise. "

on 6/26/2009 Your not supposed to bathe them everyday!!!! Don't do it!!! It strips them of neccesarry oils, and can stress them out. You can give them a bath but it is not reccommended. But if you do, do it at least once a week.

on 8/2/2008 Bathing hermit crabs every day can stress them. You can put a container in the tank for them to bathe themselves. I made a big mistake one time by bathing all of my hermit crabs every day, and they died of stress.
