on 8/2/2008 As well intended as Ms. Noah may be in sharing her "expert" knowledge on land hermit crab husbandry, as Expert Village has deemed her based on being an award winning teacher who has cared for land hermit crabs for 14 years, these videos are very misleading with regard to what necessitates proper care. There are too many corrections to point out here on each of Ms. Noah's videos so, if you are truly interested in providing care that gives your hermit crabs the opportunity for a happy, healthy and longer life, and you prefer to have pets that not only survive, but thrive, please visit landhermitcrabs.com. We look forward to meeting you!

on 8/2/2008 Thats a good idea to put half gravel and half sand for the substrate! I would'nt have thought of that, I was going to just use sand. You are very smart. From, Hannah.

on 8/2/2008 That cage is too small. It must be a 10 gallon or more. For more information on hermit crabs, go to www.geocities.com/landhermitcrab2006. Also, gravel is REALLY BAD.

Video Transcript

"Hi! I am Debbie with expertvillage.com and we are talking about hermit crabs as some really cool pets for you and your children. We have talked about buying your aquarium and things that you need. Now, we are going to setup you crab area, if you want to call it that or other crab habitat. So, you are going to need some sand and I have already set mine up here with, this is great sand that we talked about earlier and I would like to do half sand and half gravel. You can do anything you want. They also are selling in the pet stores some coconut shells that have been ground up that they like to burrow in. I personally prefer this, it is a little cleaner, so you get your sand, get your gravel and then of course you need to put in your toys for climbing, you don’t want it too crowded because they need a place just to walk around and burrow. There is a little hidey-hole here and then your water dish and your food dish and this doubles as water, food dish and a toy to climb up. You kind of arrange it so that is over in the corner, then you are ready to add your newly purchased hermit crabs to check out their new habitat and your new friendly crabs are ready to enter their new home and explore and hide and eat and drink.
