"The next thing I want to talk about is heating for your corn snake. Now, corn snakes are a temperate zone animal, so they don't need as much heat as say like a desert animal, like a bearded dragon. However, they do need heat to properly digest their food. There's a couple different ways you can heat you reptile enclosure. You can heat it with a heat fixture, with a heat bulb, or, and as well, you can heat it with a heat pad. Now you should never use a heat pad as your only source of heating, they don't put off enough heat. However, they are a good source of subsidiary heating, and they add a little bit extra to your overall heating of your aquarium, and allow the snake to help digest its food better. When your choosing your heat for your reptile, you need to make sure that your heat lamp is a ceramic top heat lamp, and properly rated for the size bulb you're going to be using. You probably want to buy one that's going to be rated anywhere from one hundred and fifty to two hundred and fifty watts. You could probably get away with a seventy-five watt rated one, but there's really almost no dollar difference between the two, you might as well go bigger just in case you need to upgrade your bulb later. Next thing you need to do is you need to choose the proper bulb for your enclosure. First thing you need to do is get a thermometer inside your enclosure so that you can gage the temperature already in there. Then find the right bulb. You're probably going to need a seventy-five to one hundred watt bulb to keep a proper temperature for a corn snake. You want to be shooting for around in the eight-five degree temperature area."
