"Hi, I'm Johan Svahnstrom on behalf of Expert Village. The last piece of cage furniture that you're going to put in is one of the most important, that's your snake's water source. Depending on the size of the snake and if it just likes to drink or if it likes to lay in the water, you need to choose the right water bowl for it. For a small snake that we keep in a shoe box, a baby, and small glass container, a small glass bowl like this is appropriate. For a larger colubrid or a small python or a small boa, one of these dog bowls will be perfect. For this particular enclosure that I've chosen today and this particular snake that I've chosen I'm going to use a larger bowl. It's a plastic shoe box like this because the snake that I'm going to put in there does like to go in the water. Especially before shedding time. Now when you put this in, it's very important that you put it so that it's sturdy in there so the snake doesn't topple it over and mess up the entire enclosure with water. That's really important, especially if you keep aspen in there because it turns into a mess when it's all wet. So what I usually do I try to put it in there and jam something up next to it so that it stays tight. In this case I'm going to use the rock that I had before. Do not fill it up totally to the top because, again, if the snake goes in there it's going to overflow and you're going to have a mess on your hands. That's about sufficient. It's important to keep your water clean in your tank. The snakes have a tendency of going to the bathroom in the water so you want to monitor it at least once every two days. If it gets too low, you need to fill it up and if it gets dirty you need to take it out and clean it up of course. You cannot have dirty water, clean water is very important for all snakes."
