"Of course one of the most important parts of choosing a new snake also is going to be finding out what your local laws are. Every state and every county and every city has different laws pertaining to different exotic animals. Make sure that the species of snake that you're going to buy falls well within these laws and regulations. Many states don't allow native species to be kept in captivity, even if their captive born or bought else where, you can get yourself in trouble. Many states also, many cities don't allow large constrictors or large pythons things like that. So make sure you do your research on your local ordinances and get on the up and up with that. Because when ever a reptile keeper gets in trouble with the law or gets on the news or something bad, it hurts us all. And as a community we need to be watching out for each other, and watching out for our PR unfortunately. Because we're not the most popular group in the world. But, so always make sure you research your local laws, your local ordinances, and make sure you fall well within the guidelines for those."
