"Okay, so we know how to feed our reptile, we know when to feed our reptile. What do we feed our reptile? Especially our blood python. Well, when you buy your blood python, if he's a tiny tiny little baby, you're probably feeding what's called pinky mice, which are tiny little newborn mice you'll buy for probably around a dollar, maybe a little bit less, apiece at your local pet store. Or on-line you can buy them in bulk as well. He won't be on those for long though. Soon enough your blood python will get big enough where he's eating fuzzy mice. Fuzzies are a little bit bigger than pinkies, as you can see. They're getting a little bit of fur on them, that's why they're called fuzzies, and they're probably also going to run you around a dollar or so apiece. Now, that won't last much longer either. Soon he'll be on your adult mice. Okay, adult frozen mice; probably going to run you a little bit more than a dollar or so. Again, you can buy these at your local pet store, or you can buy them on-line. When he's full grown though, you'll be feeding these guys, the jumbo mice, the big guys. You won't need to go any bigger than this but this is the adult size for a blood python. Now, if you can't handle that, you need to think about a different reptile. But, luckily, frozen food is readily available nowadays and most captive born animals will take them without a problem. I've never had any snake leave my store that wasn't on frozen food, which I highly recommend. Now, some people are going to tell you, well, what's the point in having a reptile if you're not feeding him live food? Well, personally I don't think them eating animals are part of the joy of keeping them. But feeding them frozen prey is much safer for the reptile and much more economical for you as well."
