"Okay, so you've got your spotted python, you've got him home, you've got his terrarium all set up, looking good, you're pretty proud and happy. But, how do you not get bit? I mean, he's a snake, he likes to bite, right? Well personally, I believe that if you get bit by a snake it's your fault, you've done something wrong. They don't want to bite you. But, I'm going to show you some tips to help not get bit. So, we've got our spotted python here, okay, and you can see he's ready to come right out of his little enclosure I've got him in, this is just a little temporary holding device. What you want to do is when you're holding him, make sure you get him out nice and gently, you don't ever want to grab or force him to do anything that's going to make him feel defensive and want to bite you maybe. You also make sure your hands are washed before handling him. You don't want him to smell like any rodents or any meat products, things like that, that could possibly make him think that you're food. You want to move slowly and calmly, don't be rushing around, don't be throwing your hands around like that. See how he immediately starts to pull back a little bit? He's getting a little defensive, maybe thinks that you might be food. The key is, though, you want to disassociate yourself from feeding. You want to make yourself as distant from his food as possible. So what we're going to talk about next is feeding and how to properly do that."
