"The negatives of owning parakeets, is again they're not like dogs or cats, they're still exotic pets. They don't speak human quite as well as a dog or cat if that makes sense, they kind of have a will of their own. These guys are much messier than many other caged pets that you can have like rodents. Just because they tend to scatter food within a pretty large perimeter of their cage, they also drop feathers and droppings in a very large perimeter of their cage. They're constantly shedding small down feathers and feather shafts which is like a dandery, paperish mess that kind of coats everything around their cage. If you don't like noise, you like to watch movies in silence, you like to have phone conversations in silence, don't get a bird. I mean, not a budgie, not any bird because these birds will make noise all the time, and they really like to compete with people, when you're talking they want to be talking too. I mean, in the while these birds chirp together, so when you're - they visualize chirping they want to join in. Other reasons not to own these birds is if you have very small children that want an animal that they can pet and touch, this bird, I wouldn't recommend it for anybody younger than six to touch it. They need to have very good motor coordination so that they don't break or crush something this size. These birds are not dangerous. They generally cannot break skin or cause any sort of damage to your body, even if they pick them up and they bite hard, their worst bite is generally pretty mild, a kid might make a noise but it isn't going to break their skin. Really overall they tend to be, have more positives than negatives, but make sure that it is a bird that you want. Understand that they do make a decent amount of mess, they're not silent creatures, and they do make a little bit of noise, kind of a constant chatter all the time."
