"My name is Lara and I'm here to talk to you about budgies. Budgies are relatively easy to keep clean and fed. All they really need is food and water supplied to them on a daily basis, make sure they have fresh water every day. Another thing budgies require is a cuttle bone, this is full of calcium and helps keep their beaks trimmed down. Without this, their beaks can get overgrown, they can lose their appetite because they can't eat, and they can die. Another form of this is a calcium block. These can both be used in conjunction with each other. Both of them help give the bird the calcium they need on a daily basis and keep their beak trimmed to a good level so that they don't get over grown. These are easily installed. You simply take your bone, attach it to the side of your cage. The bird is then able to get ahold of it and chew on it. The calcium blocks come with a wire on the back, they are installed the same way. Open it up, put it in, twist the wire tight. Another very important thing that your budgie needs is what we call a bird protector. This hangs on the back of their cage and it prevents them from getting mites and lice. These need to be replaced every two to four months."
