" Hi! I’m Sarah and I’m here at Extra Care Animal Hospital today, and on behalf of expertvillage.com I’m going to tell you a little bit about owning a lovebird. Your bird can get seeds as a treat, but your bird’s diet should consist of no more that 10% seed. For this bird, I’d say maybe a sunflower or two a day is treat or if you have a small bird seed mix, a pinch of seed. If you want to give them maybe an inch to a half an inch of millet as a treat, you do that. You want to keep the seed to a minimum. Seeds are very unhealthy; they’re high in fat, low in fiber, and very high in carbs. You know people that eat diets like that are very unhealthy, and the same goes for your bird. You want to make sure that if you want to have your lovebird around for as long as possible, you feed them a good healthy pellet diet. "
