"On behalf of Expert Village, my name is Laura, and I'm here to talk to you about finches. Breeding finches is relatively easy. The best way to do this is to have several breeding pairs. The males will come in and flirt with the females for a couple of weeks. After that, you will notice that the female start to lay eggs. The males of the finch species tend to be more involved in the raising of their young. You will notice that the males will sit on the eggs quite a bit, where as in other species the females are the main egg sitters. Once the eggs have been laid, it usually takes fourteen to twenty-one days to incubate. This is when you will notice the males taking care of the eggs the most. After the female has laid her eggs, she tends to be more of a hands-off parent. Once the eggs have hatched, then the females start to take over. You will notice them feeding the babies a lot more. Once the babies have hatched it usually takes six to eight weeks for them to be ready to go out on their own. "
