"Hi! My name is Grace Fitzpatrick and I am here on behalf of Expert Village and I am going to talk to you today about making a noise at the same time you spray your cat. You want to make a noise when spraying your cat because that way if you don't happen to have a spray bottle around and you still want them to get off the counter or the surface, you can just make a noise and they will have been trained to get off the counter when they hear just the noise. So it is a good way basically to reinforce training. So for example I have a bottle and the cat jumps on the counter, I am not just going to go with the spray bottle, I am also going to make a hissing noise or like a psss as you are spraying so next time all I have to do is go psss and I don't necessarily have to spray them. So a hissing or clapping works so each time you do that they know exactly what is going on and they know they are not supposed to be doing whatever they are doing. "
