" Hi! I am Dr. Adrienne Mulligan on behalf of expertvillage.com and today I am just going to talk a little bit about the things I don’t want you to do when you travel with your cat. Number one is don’t leave your cat in the open bed of a truck. If you have a camper trailer or something like that then it is fine, but again you should have them in a crate, a crate, crate, crate I can’t say that enough. You need to crate your cat in the back of the truck even with a camper and be sure it is secured down so that it does not roll, so it does not tip and if you don’t have a camper top do not even put them in the back with the crate even with tethers because there is too much wind blowing and that is just going to scare them, it is going to freak them out and they are not going to do well in that kind of a situation. So never put them in the back bed of the truck. Another thing you need to be very careful of is do not over sedate your cat. If you do get sedatives from your veterinarian be very careful that you try them a few days before to see how they will affect your cat and try not to overdo it because often cats that are oversedated will make more noise than the ones that just have enough but not too much and that can be hard to figure that out so sedates are a toughie. So don’t oversedate them and don’t let them run free in your car, keep them restrained in some form or fashion. "
