" Hi! I am Dr. Adrienne Mulligan and on behalf of expertvillage.com we are going to talk a little bit about traveling cross-country with your kitty in your car. One of the things that you want to make sure of is number one that your kitty is in a crate, it is really the safest place to be and that crate is secured so it cannot roll or tumble change positions and the other is that during the trip that they have chances to go to bathroom and to eat and drink. So if you need to provide a larger crate and give them a little litter box in it that is a good idea. You can put some food in there and may be just ice cubes so that as they melt they get a little bit of water, but you don’t want it to spill all over and then you want to be sure that as you travel across the country if you are going to be staying in hotels you should call ahead because there are a lot of animal friendly hotels that you can stay in and that will let you bring a cat or a dog. So you want to identify those and try to get your reservations ahead of time so that you are not stuck trying to find a kennel to put your cat in because the hotel you have chosen does not allow you to have a cat. Because sneaking them in never works very well, getting caught is a very bad thing and it is not a good idea to leave your cat in the car while you are in the hotel. "
