" Hi! I am Dr. Adrienne Mulligan and I am here on behalf of expertvillage.com and we are going to talk a little bit about transporting your cat by the airlines when you are not going with it like in cases where you breed cats and you want to send the kitten to its new home or may be where your son or daughter has moved away and they are ready to take their cat that they have had since they were a kid. So the things that you want to take into consideration are time of the year, the weather where they are coming from, the weather where they are going to, like for instance if they are flying from Phoenix to Alaska you have got a few climate changes there and you have to worry a little bit about the cat’s safety and comfort, when they are taken off the plane and sit on the Tarmac for a certain amount of time and various airlines do a better job than others with handling the cats and a few of them do not have anywhere to put them when they bring them so they just let them sit outside but other ones actually have a special room or trailer set up where when the cats or dogs comes of the cargo area, they get taken to that room and that is where you pick them up. You do not pick them up at the main airport, you go to the special building and so it is very important when you ship your cat or your dog that you ask a lot of questions about what are they going to do with the animals, how long are they going to sit out in the weather, do they have guidelines about the weather, some airlines would not ship during certain times, like in Phoenix, there are months they would not shift pets because it is too hot and so you have to ask those questions and find the best carrier to move your animal for you.
