" Hi! I am Dr. Mulligan on behalf of expertvillage.com. We are going to talk a little bit about traveling with your cat without a crate. If you have a cat that is well trained in a harness and does not fight you and can be controlled that way quite easily and you have multiple passengers. This is the most important part because you cannot be in a car with your cat on a leash and be safe to drive and have your cat safe in your car and so with passengers you could have your cat in the car on his harness and controlled so that he does not hurt himself or get in trouble. The one thing that a cat gets in trouble with when they are loose in the car is it they love to explore and so even if you start them out in the back seat they will travel to the front seat. The first thing they will do is they will get underneath your brake pedal and underneath your gas pedal and that can cause a lot of trouble if you come upon a traffic light and the other thing they like to do is get up onto the dashboard to see if they can learn how to hot-wire a car because curiosity killed the cat. And the cat that is loose in your car well that curiosity could kill more than the cat. So I strongly recommend some form of restraint when you have your car traveling with you in your car. "
