Man has long had a unique relationship with the animals on this planet. We’ve kept them as familiars, helpful spirits for performing witchcraft. We’ve trained them to track, to find, and to kill. Some we have worshipped as gods or killed as offerings to gods…and some we have eaten. Yet, perhaps as a gentler development from this history, we have begun to bring animals into our homes, to domesticate and care for them, to call them friends. We keep them as pets, but to some they are as precious as children.
Over time, cats have proven to be well-adapted for human life, expressing qualities of loyalty, love, and friendship. Studies have shown that, aside from their usefulness as mice catchers, pets like cats can help dramatically reduce a person’s stress level. When you’re traveling away from home, having your favorite pet cat with you can make the trip more enjoyable.
In this free video series, learn how to take your cat along with you on the road or in a plane. Our expert will give you techniques for pet friendly travel, including whether or not to crate your cat, how to coax the cat into a crate, safety tips, what not to do when traveling together, and how to send your cat to your destination ahead of you. It’s traveling with your cat made simple.
"Hi! I am Dr. Adrienne Mulligan on behalf of expertvillage.com and we are going to talk about crates for traveling with your cat. This is the number one recommended way to take your cat anywhere. Now the interesting thing you will find about crates is that cats absolutely hate to get into a crate when the crate is in their home. That is because they know that when they are at their home and they get in the crate, it is going to take them somewhere else that they do not to want to be, like the veterinary office. So you will probably with lots of bodily harm, finally cram your cat into the crate and I will try to show you some tricks on that here in a second and then when you get him where you are going and you want to come home, you will find that they will go in just easily. So kitty, kitty, kitty, kitty, kitty… come in, lets see if we can put you into a crate. So lets open this crate and you have a minute I can talk about that. Actually that was a very good cat. But now he wants out. So we let him out."
